This is a classic Nikon lens that I think is undervalued. Compared to the newer Micro-Nikkors, it is much smaller, much less expensive, easier to manually focus and has similar optical performance. I also think that it is a perfect macro length lens on a DX camera.
The focus is smooth, unlike many of these with stiff focus. It's ever so slightly stiff, not hard to turn, and much better than most that I see. The aperture is dry and snappy. The glass is clean and scratch-free and the body shows light wear. There is a tiny dent on the top rim of the lens, however this does not affect function of the lens or attachment of filters.
