This is a classic Nikon lens that I think is undervalued, compared to the newer Micro-Nikkors. It is much smaller, much less expensive, easier to manually focus and has similar optical performance. I also think that it is a perfect macro length lens on a DX camera. The lens is also smaller than the f2.8 version and may be sharper.
